Antiquated Roses

Upon a soft and peaceful winter’s morning,

Within these walls, a flame is slowly burning.

I lie awake and watch you gently dreaming,

A fair reminder of the gilded buds that hang high above.

For our love is safely settled

Deep within the sheltered petals

Of these antiquated roses.

I drift away in visions, sweet and tender,

Of treasured days, and nights infused with wonder.

When on an eve, you gave me rarest flowers,

The kind that sparkled with resplendent flare when fond hearts were near.

For our love is safely settled

Deep within the sheltered petals

Of these antiquated roses.

And still these relics hang today,

Above this lustrous bed;

A gift whose worth exceeds all earthly wealth.

And all throughout the passing days,

Their colors never fade;

Immortal strands that call to mind our everlasting love.

And as you wake, and see me fondly musing,

I turn and say, “’Tis love that I’m perusing.”

Then letting go, we’re swiftly charmed by rapture,

And warmly bundled by the ardent cloak of fate’s sweet release.

For our love is safely settled

Deep within the sheltered petals

Of these antiquated roses.

Close to Home

I’ve traveled far across the seas,

To strange and distant lands,

And laid my body down to rest

Upon Italian sands.

I’ve seen the way the stars reflect

Upon the Swedish fjords,

And watched auroras' dance with glee

So far away up north.

And though I yearn

For the open roads and misadventures

That lie beyond the pale,

I am assured that close to home is where my heart

Shall stay forevermore.

I’ve journeyed deep with my mind

To a place beyond compare,

And roved its hushed and silent halls

To find some meaning there.

I’ve sought to learn the ins and outs

Of my strange and cryptic soul,

To gain awareness deep inside;

Trust fate and just let go.

And though I long

To dispel the doubt and apprehension

That haunts my deepest dreams,

I am assured that close to home is where my faith

Shall remain forevermore.

And life, it moves along to a steady beat,

Like a never-ending song.

And as I strive

To be a constant part of nature’s cadence,

That sweet, sustaining flow,

I am assured that close to home is where my spirit

Remains forevermore.

Colors of Your Soul

Life carries upon the breeze,

Like time passing behind these eyes.

Here, standing alone, unseen,

I pause, feeling my dreams enfold me;

Lost inside tomorrow beneath the evening sky…

From high atop this mountain peak,

Fate aligns the sleeping stars

That lay behind the setting sun.

And on the wind, I hear a voice,

Speaking softly in lucid tones,

Saying, “Young one, surrender

To the brightly shining colors of your soul.”

Hope lingers from days of old,

Unchanged, and whispering words of peace.

Now, watching the night unfold,
I muse, dreaming a dream unspoken;

Lost within the rapture that dwells inside of me…

From high atop this mountain peak,

Fate aligns the sleeping stars

That lay behind the setting sun.

And on the wind, I hear a voice,

Speaking softly in lucid tones,

Saying, “Young one, surrender

To the brightly shining colors of your soul.”

The Greatest Love I Know

The night is chill, and the desert winds are wild.

I’m watching the stars with the eyes of an awestruck child.

And lying here, ‘neath the untamed Arizona skies,

I’m lost within the endless strands of time.

And deep inside, where my heart and soul collide,

It’s there that my love for Mother Nature resides.

Here I am, tonight,

Weightless and free as I take to flight.

I yield to the joy of the moon and stars above.

Oh, this peace I feel is soft like a mother’s touch.

Teaching me to grow,

As seasons come and go,

It’s the greatest love I know.

The night grows still, as I gently close my eyes,

When far away, I hear the sounds of coyotes’ cries.

Their lonely calls come to rest in the deepest parts of me,

Where dreams are set to sail on emerald seas.

For deep inside, where my heart and soul collide,

It’s there that my love for Mother Nature resides.

Here I am, tonight,

Weightless and free as I take to flight.

I yield to the joy of the moon and stars above.

Oh, this peace I feel is soft like a mother’s touch.

Teaching me to grow,

As seasons come and go,

It’s the greatest love I know.

And when I find I’m lost in the rush of every day,

I just look up towards the sky to find my way.

Here I am, tonight,

Weightless and free as I take to flight.

I yield to the joy of the moon and stars above.

Oh, this peace I feel is soft like a mother’s touch.

Teaching me to grow,

As seasons come and go,

It’s the greatest love I know.

Teaching me to grow,

As seasons come and go,

It’s the greatest love I know.

The Sum of All Things Beautiful

Falling into you is such an easy thing to do.

You part the clouds, you bring the sun, you turn the grey to blue.

And though you’ve read it within my eyes, I simply have to say

That all you are is all I need, for I love you more each day.

Angel fair, I am aware

That the sum of all things beautiful is you.

Lying here with you upon a bed of earth and sky,

I’m absorbed inside your warm embrace, and lost within your eyes.

Placing my hand upon your heart, I perceive an ancient soul,

As if I’ve felt your same sweet pulse somewhere long ago.

Angel fair, I am aware

That the sum of all things beautiful is you.

Closing eyes, we find ourselves adrift within a dream,

Floating on the edge of time within an ageless sea.

And even here, upon this plain where beauty reigns supreme,

The radiance that you exude is most beautiful to me.

Angel fair, I am aware

That the sum of all things beautiful is you.
